We welcome all orchestral string instruments including violins, violas, cellos and double basses.
2. Where is the String Camp held?In 2022 we will be based at the Free Reformed Church of Albany. Please note that concerts may be held in alternative venues – more information will be released as we finalise the details).
3. I live outside the Albany area and would love to attend. Can you help with travel and maybe a place to stay? Please contact us and we will do our best to assist you. We would love for as many people as possible to attend! If you require, you may sharedrive to Albany for free, and we could also find you accomodation there (even possibly for a family).
4. I’m not sure that I have skills to play in an orchestra – how good do I have to be?String Camp is designed exactly for you. String Camp focuses on all participants growing and its priority is for all participants to have a good time, to grow and to explore their God given musical gifts. As an approximate guide we suggest that you will ideally have had 1 year of lessons, have some ability to read music but most importantly want to enjoy learning how to and playing with other musicians to the honour and glory of our God. The 2022 camp will have both smaller ensemble playing and larger orchestral playing.
5. How is the String Camp structured? Please look at the SCHEDULE for detailed information. The camp will begin on the 27th of September at 1:30pm, and finish on Friday evening the 30th of September. Participants will be required to attend between 9am and 4pm each day (apart from the first day), with lunch, morning and afternoon tea provided. We plan to hold two concerts, most likely in Wesley Church Albany, on Friday afternoon and Friday evening.
6. Am I too young or too old?You are just the right age. If you are under 10 years old at the start of String Camp we do required your parent or guardian to be present (or suitable arrangements to be put in place)
7. When and where are the concerts?Concerts will be held at the Scots Church in Albany (168 York St, Albany WA 6330). Two concerts will be held, one at 2pm and one at 7pm on the 30th of September. Please see the FLYER for information.
8. How much does it cost to attend String Camp 2022 and what do you use the money for?The 2022 camp will cost $130 per family or $100 for an individual. It will cover lunch for three days, and any other costs associated with the camp.
9. Will we do anything other than just play music? There will be ample breaks for players to rest and socialise. More details can be found on the SCHEDULE. We aim to promote positive and life long friendships between players.
All funds raised will directly be used to run Free Reformed string camps in Australia. This might include using finances for possible costs that might arise such as food, tuition, accomodation costs, technology costs or venue costs
